Her Little Adventure

It was 1.20am. She wanted to read, so she left the bed. She didn't want to disturb anyone, so she decided to go to the deserted room, she turns the light on, and sits on the floor. She starts reading, and she wasn't sleepy yet.
After a while, she felt she read a lot, and she knew she couldn't finish the book that night, so she decided to go back to bed, feeling all thrilled of her little adventure. She thought it was 3 or 4 am, which made her excited.
Before she closes her eyes, she takes a look at her mobile phone to see what time it really was.

2.00 am.
Are you kidding me??!!! How depressing, as I tried to sleep, I felt how disheartening that was, I wanted it to be later so that I could've felt like I actually did something.

What does give you a feeling of accomplishment? One good motivational technique is to start writing down what you'd like to do, small things are a great place to start, then look at the list at least once a day. As you do each (any) one write down how you felt afterward. The idea is to start taking small steps and focus on the feeling of accomplishment they give you. It is best to start with steps so small that it's ridiculous not to do them. The idea is to use inertia for your benefit.

Inertia--a body at rest tends to stay at rest. A body in motion tends to stay in motion. The first action steps are the hardest.

I think this is something :)

@ Jean:
Your idea makes sense, I'll try to start a to-list each day, and we'll stay how I can keep it up.
And you're absolutely right, a body that's at rest tends to stay at rest! I'm a living proof. ;)

thanks a lot, i really really appreciate it. :)

I don't have To Do lists. Mine are Possibility lists. I look at the list every day when I'm trying to motivate myself to do something, but there's no guilt involved if I don't do it. There's just a feeling of relief and accomplishment when I do. The trick for me is to put something on the list long before it needs to be done. Pressure does mount as time goes on so it feels great when I finally get it done.
